Police stop overloaded van: safety at risk!

An interesting incident recently occurred on the A8 motorway near Bergkirchen. How the Danube courier Reportedly, a van from the Aichach-Friedberg district was stopped by the police. The driver and his two passengers had obviously not taken into account that transporting scaffolding components cannot simply be handled with “a lot helps a lot”. Instead of the permitted 3.5 tons, the transporter weighed almost six tons.

During a patrol trip towards Stuttgart, the officers noticed the massively overloaded van. The suspicion was confirmed during a check at the Dachau junction, where the police used their own scales to prove that the vehicle was significantly over the permitted weight. The test showed that due to the vehicle's technical characteristics, there was hardly any payload left for additional goods. The scaffolding components had to be reloaded and further travel was prohibited.

Road safety in focus

During this operation, the police pointed out that massive overloading should not underestimate road safety. A poorer braking distance, impaired steering behavior and an increased risk of technical defects are just some of the dangers associated with overloading a vehicle. Such conditions can ultimately endanger the safety of all road users and are an absolute no-go.

The driver of the overloaded van will now have to expect a fine of several hundred euros. A little more thought before loading can avoid many problems. You should always make sure that the correct weight is loaded on the vehicle - even if you are trying to transport everything at once.

Finally, all that remains to be said is that the next construction site will definitely come and with it a new opportunity to pack properly. But you should always show a good hand when loading so that there are no unpleasant surprises on the road.
