Mysterious fire in Wallerfing: Police investigate – clues wanted!
On the night of Friday to Saturday, more precisely shortly after midnight, a fire broke out in the garden of a resident in Wallerfing (Deggendorf district). The police and fire department were alerted around 12:30 a.m. by concerned neighbors who discovered visible flames and smoke. When the emergency services arrived, several old tires were burning, and the fire brigade was able to quickly prevent the fire from spreading to an adjacent building. However, the Thujen hedge on a neighboring property did not remain unscathed and was damaged by the flames.
The fire investigators from the Deggendorf criminal police station were immediately on site to get to the bottom of the cause of the fire. They do not rule out intentional arson and are asking the public for help. Anyone who made suspicious observations in the area around the “Hohen Steg” between 12:15 a.m. and 12:40 a.m. should urgently contact the Deggendorf police. The contact number is 0991/3896-0.
Attentive neighbors asked
Investigators hope that witnesses can provide important information that will help clear up the incident. A resident described that the neighborhood had already kept an attentive eye on several occasions when it came to unusual events in the area. “It is important that we all be vigilant,” emphasized the neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous. “You wouldn’t believe what can happen!”
Such events raise questions among residents in Wallerfing. Will the neighborhood be safe? What can I do as a neighbor to recognize and report possible dangers? The criminal police offer the opportunity to approach them at any time to share information or ask yourself how you should behave in such situations.
A good hand for the fire department
The fire department's quick response prevented anything worse from happening. “I can only thank the emergency services who were on site quickly,” says another neighbor who escaped the fire. “You don’t want to experience something like that!” The operations management informed that such fires can often be prevented if neighbors support each other and keep their eyes open.
Incidents like this are also a reminder of how important prevention and neighborhood help are. If you feel unsafe or have questions, you are welcome to contact the local police station. If in doubt, just ask, this is often the best way to prevent criminal activity and increase the feeling of security in your own environment.
The investigation is ongoing and we will keep you updated on further developments in this matter. If you are not yet informed about the situation in Wallerfing, you can find out more on the PNP website, which offers comprehensive reporting.
