Poppenberg triumphs 8-0 over Neßlbach in the test match highlight!
What is happening in the Lower Bavarian Eastern Football District? On June 28, 2025, the first big test match weekend got really busy. In one of the highlights, 1. FC Poppenberg defeated DJK Neßlbach with an impressive 8-0. Neßlbach, a former district league team, is making a fresh start in the lowest league this year and will probably have to put his heads together after the heavy defeat.
The team from Poppenberg was unstoppable in this test match. The goals were scored by Lukas List (2), Reinhard Janka, Manuel Lederer (2), Fabian Früchtl (2) and Reinhold Wirrer. Such a clear superiority shows that the Poppenbergers are in great shape, while the Neßlbachers still have a lot to do to find their way in their new surroundings.
More exciting results
But it wasn't just the game between Poppenberg and Neßlbach that was very exciting. Other matches also spoke volumes about the teams in the region. FC Fürstenzell was less lucky and clearly lost 0:6 against SG Dornach/Roßbach. Fabian Knogl and Armin Leitl excelled there, each hitting the net twice. A real false start for Fürstenzell, which will have to prove itself in the upcoming league season.
At the same time there were some exciting duels in the district class. The team from Tiefenbach had to accept a 1:3 defeat against Hauzenberg II, while the former player-coach of SV Oberpolling, Alexander Starkl, added his name to the result list with two goals. This shows that former players are clearly far from saying goodbye to top performances.
A-classes under the microscope
And what are the league plans for the 2025/26 season? The division of the 134 A-class teams is official. In the coming season, three 14-a-side leagues and seven 13-a-side leagues will be accommodated in the East football district. The teams from Passau are placed in two different A classes, while the Regen, Viechtach and Grafenau classes each start the race with three district class relegated teams.
A special look at the A-class Straubing: The league has 14 teams, including old friends like FC Aiterhofen and TSV Oberschneiding II. A strong clash is also coming up in the A-class Hauzenberg, which competes with 13 teams and has, among others, FC Obernzell-Erlau II and TSV Wegscheid in its ranks.
Interestingly, there is no relegation in the A-Class Passau, which ensures an exciting and secure competitive environment. This all promises an exciting season that starts on the weekend of the 26th/27th. It will start in July and will ensure exciting encounters in the district leagues in the eastern area. Things remain exciting for fans of amateur sports!
