Festive event in Mamming: 63 young people receive confirmation!

A ceremonial confirmation recently took place in Mamming, a picturesque town in the Dingolfing-Landau district. On July 7, 2025, a total of 63 young people were confirmed in the festively decorated parish church by Provost General Maximilian Korn. This occasion reflects not only the spiritual journey of young Christians, but also the tradition of the Catholic Church as expressed in Confirmation, one of the seven sacraments. Loud Don Bosco Magazine Confirmation is a strengthening of the desire to reaffirm the baptismal promise that the parents and godparents made at the time of baptism.

Provost General Korn, who gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to the candidates for confirmation, had some inspiring words for the celebration. He spoke about the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit and asked the young people about their faith before administering the sacrament. During the ceremony, he invited the confirmees to silent prayer and drew a cross with chrism on each one's forehead. “Be sealed with the gift of God, the Holy Spirit,” he told the young people. These words are the central part of Confirmation and illustrate the deeper meaning of this sacrament, which symbolizes the transition from childhood to adulthood.

A festive setting

The service was organized by Pastor Thomas Gleißner, parish vicar Binumon John and deacon Franz Lammer. The celebration was accompanied musically by the “Da Capo” choir, which created an atmospheric atmosphere under the direction of Beate Reuter. Such celebrations are of great importance in the parish community as they strengthen faith and community. In Mitterfels, a neighboring town, a similar picture could be observed on July 8, 2023, when 69 young Christians were confirmed there, also by Provost General Korn. The confirmation candidates were introduced to their baptismal promises and received the chrism anointing.

The celebratory confirmation ceremony in Mamming ended with Pastor Gleißner thanking Provost General Korn for coming. Andrea Rohrmeier presented a carbine as a gift on behalf of the parish community. Such gestures are not only symbolic, but also reflect the community's gratitude.
