Maria Wollny: My garden is my vacation – a paradise for insects!
Maria Wollny, once politically active in various offices, has now devoted herself entirely to her new passion: designing a natural garden that serves as a paradise for insects, bees and bumblebees. After retiring from politics in 2019, where she worked for the CSU, among other things, Wollny focused on her 400 square meter garden area in Kirchseeon. She enjoys her green oasis so much that she even foregoes vacation trips to have more time for her plants, like Merkur reported.
It used to be dominated by lawns, supplemented by a few fruit trees. But that was no longer enough for Wollny - today her garden is blooming in all its glory with numerous shrubs, perennials and fruit trees. She made a conscious decision not to completely weed many of the wild herbs and flowers in order to promote a natural habitat. “The plants should be able to develop,” says Wollny. She uses her harvest creatively to make jams and jellies.
A garden for nature
Promoting wildlife is particularly important to Wollny. In the spirit of a garden design close to nature, as described in articles on My Beautiful Garden, she has integrated various elements that offer a habitat for beneficial insects and birds. A border of trees for birds as well as piles of stones and tall plants ensure that lizards and flying insects also find a home.
Wollny and her family work in the garden for around two hours every day, with support from her husband Paul and their daughter Alexandra, among others. They get a lot of tips from the area of natural garden design. Another important point: the garden is maintenance-intensive. Without regular care, it could quickly turn into a more monotonous appearance, as experts note on Tukang Pengepul, who emphasize the importance of site-appropriate plants to keep the ecosystem stable.
Garden open day
A special opportunity to experience Wollny's garden for yourself will be on June 29th when she takes part in the garden open day. Here, garden lovers in the region can enjoy the diversity of their plants and the natural design up close. The seating in the garden invites you to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature to the fullest and be inspired by the successful interplay of the flora.
Maria Wollny shows how much joy and fulfillment can be found in a natural garden. For her and her family, this place is more than just a piece of land; it is a place of retreat and a valuable contribution to protecting nature.
