Sing and celebrate together: choirs bring Roth to life!
On Sunday, November 23, 2025, the parish church of Mary Assumption into Heaven in Roth will be the meeting point for all music-loving choirs in the region. At the Deanery Singing, organized by the Roth-Schwabach Deanery and the Church Music Department of the Diocese of Eichstätt, the focus is on singing and celebrating together. [Bistum Eichstätt](https://www.bistum-eichstaett.de/aktuell/aktuelle-melden-details/news/gemeinsam-singen-und- Feiern-wochenende-der-choere-in-roth/) reports that the event will take place from 1:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The registration deadline is October 4th, so now it's time to be quick!
The program promises exciting musical experiences. Under the musical direction of regional cantor Peter Hummel, pieces such as “Missa festiva” by Hubert Zaindl and “Cantate domino” by Christian Heiß will be performed. The pilgrim hymn “Light of Life” will also be heard during the service at 6 p.m. In addition to experienced choirs, young people who would like to experience the joy of singing together are also welcome among the participants.
Insights into choir culture
The challenge of choral singing is often underestimated. But the cathedral choir in Eichstätt, led by cathedral conductor Manfred Faig, always offers solid tools for all singers. Eichstätter Dommusik has made a name for itself through the festive musical arrangement of church services and concerts in Eichstätter Cathedral. The members of the choir rehearse on Fridays and take part in two rehearsal weekends once a year. It's worth taking part here!
The commitment does not end at the church threshold. The cathedral choir is present on both radio and video broadcasts and spends a lot of time exploring its extensive repertoire, which ranges from Gregorian chant to romantic and modern compositions. A call to participate in the rehearsals underlines the openness and accessibility that characterizes the choral culture in Eichstätt.
Community and joy in singing
What would a choir day be without moments together? A coffee break and meeting time will enable participants to exchange ideas and make new contacts. The atmosphere at the Deanery Singing is determined not only by the music, but also by the community that is fostered here. There is a lot of potential behind the commitment here: joy in making music together and new impulses for choir work are the goals that will be the focus on November 23rd.
If you are interested in taking part in this event, you should have your contact details ready: Registrations can be made by phone at (08421) 50-861 or by email to kirchenmusik-kurs(at)bistum-eichstaett(dot)de. The sunny November weekend has a lot to offer - and perhaps one or two participants will become a permanent voice in one of the choirs!
For anyone interested in choral singing, this should be a golden opportunity to not only polish their vocal skills, but also experience the joy of singing in full community. Join us – and show that singing connects!
