Even Wolves celebrate 4-1 win: Gerike's farewell game in focus!

On October 27, 2025, the Netzsch Arena in Selb was the scene of an exciting game that ended with a clear 4-1 home win for the Selber Wolves. On this day there was a lot to experience not only on the ice, but also outside of skating. Sven Gerike, the managing director of the Selber Wölfe, gave his farewell word in an interview after the last home game before his upcoming handover. Frankenpost reports that the balance of power in the game was clearly shifted in favor of the Wolves from the second third onwards, which offered the fans an afternoon worth seeing.

Sven Gerike, who will take over management of the Selber Wölfe from January 2024, has already gained extensive experience in ice hockey. At the age of 46, he can look back on an impressive career that has taken him, among other things, to Berlin to the Eisbären and to the DEL. Ice Hockey News highlights that Gerike was previously managing director and sporting director at the KSW IceFighters Leipzig. This decision for a full-time managing director was made due to the increased demands in the DEL2, and shareholders Jürgen Golly and Thomas Manzei will support him as advisory board members during the transition period.

Sporting ambitions and strategic changes

With the upcoming change in management, the Selber Wölfe have set themselves the goal of establishing the location economically in the DEL2. The future managing director Gerike explained how important personal contact with Golly and Manzei is for the successful implementation of long-term goals. Ice Hockey Magazine adds that Gerike will also take on the role of sporting director. The establishment of a multi-member advisory board, consisting of Gerike, Golly and Manzei, is intended to advance the strategic development of the wolves.

In the midst of these strategic innovations, the anticipation for the coming season is palpable. The Wolves have firmly decided to take new paths, both sportingly and economically. The last games - characterized by exciting side notes and a clear team spirit - show that the Wolves are still looking for success and want to play an important role in German ice hockey.
