On Sunday, July 13, 2025, it's that time again: The Erdinger Chamber Orchestra invites you to a summer concert, where the main work of the event is one of the best-known musical stories for children - Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf". This musical fairy tale, premiered in 1936, uses atmospheric melodies and a gripping narrative to tell the story of a courageous boy who goes on an adventure with his animal friends. At this summer concert, the chamber orchestra is additionally reinforced by woodwinds, brass and percussion. Diverse musical program
The concert in the inner courtyard of St. Vinzenz starts at 6 p.m. If the weather is unfavorable, the event will take place in the parish hall. In addition to “Peter and the Wolf,” other impressive works are also on the program. These include three melodies from Peter Tchaikovsky's suite “The Seasons” as well as the beautiful “Andante Cantabile” with the soloist Helmut Veihelmmann, the former principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Added to this is Dmitri Shostakovich's “Waltz No. 2”, which will enchant the audience with its elegant charm.
Before the big concert, there will be a public dress rehearsal for the little listeners on Saturday, July 12th at 6 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the music and story of “Peter and the Wolf” up close and build anticipation for the subsequent concert. Sergei Prokofiev's legacy
The composer Sergei Prokofiev was born on April 23, 1891 in Sontsovka and is one of the modern classics. Even as a child, he was enthusiastic about music and began taking piano lessons under the guidance of his mother. At the age of 13 he was trained at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, where he enjoyed significant success.
