The handball club TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, known by the nickname “DIE RECKEN”, has recently attracted attention in both the Handball Bundesliga and the European League. On Tuesday the team celebrated an important victory in the European League, but things are not quite going well in the league itself. They are currently only in 13th place with a mixed score of 6:12 points. Most recently, the team had to admit defeat to newly promoted GWD Minden, which further increases concerns about the course of the season.
However, Frank Carstens, who was recently introduced as coach of the Los Angeles Team Handball Club, has confidence in his former team. Carstens firmly believes that the players can get out of the current crisis. “There are always phases in which development does not go as desired,” he emphasizes, pointing out the important role of cohesion in such times. The loss of key players such as Kulesh and the absence of Renars Uscins due to injury present additional challenges.
A look at the club's history
TSV Hannover-Burgdorf has a long tradition that goes back to 1922, when the Burgdorf Free Gymnastics Association was founded. Through various renaming and mergers, the club finally arrived in its current form, and is not only impressive because of its history, but also because of its impressive home venues. The games are mainly played in the ZAG Arena, which has been preferred since 2018 due to increasing spectator numbers.

He continues to follow the Bundesliga with great attention and believes that the RECKEN will soon get back on the road to success. “We have one of the best coaches in German handball in Christian Prokop,” he adds, emphasizing the team’s potential to emerge stronger from this difficult phase.
