Music festival and twin city celebration: Forchheim celebrates 25 years of Gherla!
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Forchheim's city center will be the scene of a special celebration: the music festival "Everywhere Music" will attract people from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. with sounds and celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the town twinning with Gherla in Romania. Nowhere else is it so clear how diverse and lively the connections between cities are, which Fraenkischer Tag reports. Here, music is not only a feast for the ears, but also an opportunity to celebrate togetherness across borders.
The program surrounding the partnership and music festival stands out with various stages that offer numerous performances. At 4:30 p.m., Mayor Uwe Kirschstein will speak at Paradeplatz to discuss not only the musical performances, but also the important collaboration with Gherla. The highlight of the afternoon will be the performance of the folklore ensemble “Dansatorii de pe Somes”, which will perform at 5 p.m. together with the Forchheim music and marching band. The farewell to long-time partnership officer Gerhard Käding and the introduction of his successor Ariane Sechi are also part of the program.
A new face for the partnership
Ariane Sechi, newly elected partnership officer, brings with her an exciting story that closely connects her to both countries. Born in Temeschburg, Romania, she moved to Germany as a child and now lives in Forchheim. Her roots lie in Gherla, where her maternal great-grandfather came from. With her experience as a qualified health and nursing assistant and her commitment to the Upper Franconian police and the district's midwife portal, she actively supports community life in Forchheim.
Despite her obligations, Sechi regularly travels to Romania and maintains ties to the homeland of her ancestors. She is pleased about the opportunity to be actively involved in the town twinning and would like to further deepen the relationship.
