Opportunities for future owners

While the local heroes are proving themselves on the pitch, many Cologne residents are also thinking about living arrangements that will make it easier to own their own home. A novel approach could be the rent-to-own model, which makes it possible to rent a house and buy it later. This method is particularly beneficial for those who have difficulty making a down payment or whose credit score is suboptimal. With this model, parts of the rental payments flow into future equity formation, which can help with the purchase decision. Section 8 explains some of the advantages of the rent-to-own approach: no large down payments and the option to test the living space before purchasing.

But be careful! These agreements also entail some risks. Higher rent payments compared to regular leases and potential repair obligations are just a few points that should be carefully considered. Legal advice could be helpful with the contract documents.
