Late on Wednesday evening, July 3, 2025, there was a spectacular incident on the Main-Danube Canal near Fürth. At around 10:10 p.m. a passenger ship collided with the Fürberg Steg Bridge. This accident mobilized several emergency services who were quickly on site to clarify the situation. The reporting by NN.de describes that the ship got stuck in the upper deck area when it brushed against the bridge.
Thankfully, there were no injuries among the approximately 80 passengers or the 40-person crew. The rescue services, including the fire department, water rescue, rescue service and the Technical Relief Agency (THW), were deployed with around 70 emergency services to ensure that everyone was on board. The ship was on its way from Nuremberg to Erlangen and was able to continue its journey at 00:05 after the situation had been clarified.
Cause of accident and damage

The material damage to the ship is estimated to be in the low five-figure range, while the damage to the bridge amounts to tens of thousands of euros. Nevertheless, when asked, it was confirmed that the stability of the Fürberg bridge was not affected by the incident.
