A dramatic accident occurred on Saturday at Eibsee. A 34-year-old father and his six-year-old son have been missing since the swimming accident in the water. Again Mercury reported that the family was traveling in a pedal boat with two other relatives during an excursion. The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. when the boy fell from the boat into the water. The father immediately jumped after him to save him, but both of them went under.
The mother, a 34-year-old woman, and her four-year-old daughter remained in the boat and were quickly looked after. Immediately after the emergency call, the first water rescue workers arrived at the scene three minutes later. The search for the missing people was initially called off that evening due to darkness, but the public was informed about the continued search efforts on Sunday morning. Despite the involvement of search helicopters, divers and other experts, the father and his son remained untraceable for the time being ZDF supplemented.
Intensive search operations and weather conditions
On Sunday the police continued the search operation with increased forces. The difficulties were not only due to the depth of up to 35 meters of the Eibsee, but also due to poor weather conditions. Rain and thunderstorms created additional challenges during the search. The Weilheim criminal police have already taken over the investigation, but so far there is no evidence of foul play. One assumes a tragic accident.
