First traditional costume culture market in Wettenhausen Monastery: A celebration of tradition!
The first traditional costume culture market will take place on October 11th and 12th in the picturesque setting of the baroque monastery in Wettenhausen. The monastery opens its doors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and invites anyone interested to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of traditional costumes and historical clothing. The motto of the market is “Your traditional costume journey through time”, and the event is organized by the Schwaben district in collaboration with the Günzburg district and the Wettenhausen monastery. Here, visitors can not only admire the impressive craftsmanship, but also benefit directly from purchasing unique handmade items and materials for their own traditional costume hobby. [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/guenzburg/erster-trachtenkulturmarkt-im-kloster-wettenhausen-find-am-11-und-12-oktober-statt-111234191) reports that a total of 38 stands will be set up offering a variety of products.
But the event has more than just commercial interests. In addition to the market stalls, the history of the Wettenhausen Monastery also comes to life. A service will take place in the monastery church on Sunday at 9 a.m., followed by the official market opening at 11 a.m., which will be conducted by Prioress Sister Theresia Mende OP as well as District Councilor Tobias Bühler and District Administrator Hans Reichhart. The market is accompanied musically on Saturday by “Swabian French music” and on Sunday by the trio “Quetschendatschi”. Of course, your physical well-being is also taken care of: the monastery restaurant “Zum Goldenen Pflug” is open during market hours, and when the weather is nice, the beer garden invites you to linger.
A look behind the scenes
The new traditional costume culture market in the monastery not only represents the preference for traditional costume, but is also a response to the pause in the traditional Swabian traditional costume market, which will be continued in a new location from 2025, as in the [Trachten district Schwaben]. An exciting development for all traditional costume lovers who can look forward to future events.
