TecGirls' Day: Insights into the world of technology for girls in Schweinfurt!

Something is happening in the education sector: On November 4th, 2025, the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Technology (THWS) is hosting TecGirls'Day, an exciting event for girls in grades 8 to 12. From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., students from high schools, secondary schools, technical colleges and middle schools can discover their passion for MINT subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) and get involved in hands-on testing. The event will take place at both THWS and Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG, two institutions that have deep roots in the region and place great emphasis on promoting girls in technical professions, as in-und-um-schweinfurt.de reports.

The organizers, including the equal opportunities officers of the city and the districts of Schweinfurt, Haßberge, Main-Spessart, Bad Kissingen and Rhön-Grabfeld, want to use TecGirls'Day to show that MINT careers are also very popular for girls. In addition to informative insights into technical training and study opportunities, various workshops are offered. For example, students can learn what virtual reality is, how robots are made intelligent or build a Bluetooth music box themselves. At Schaeffler you can expect creative offers such as “Changing Colors” with LED lighting effects and the opportunity to design your own candles.

Unique conditions of participation

A special plus: Participation is not only free, but also includes lunch. A free bus transfer is also provided from the districts of Main-Spessart, Haßberge and Rhön-Grabfeld as well as from Schweinfurt main station. The registration options can be found on the event website TecGirls until October 20th, but the number of places is limited and underage girls need their parents' signature on the registration form.

This initiative is part of a larger trend aimed at encouraging girls to pursue science and technology careers. Various MINT funding programs and campaigns, such as bildungsserver.de are noticing increasing interest in these fields. Such events are designed to help students discover their talents and abilities in an area that is traditionally often viewed as a “boys’ domain.”

At a time when technical know-how is increasingly in demand and the job market opportunities in MINT careers are promising, this TecGirls' Day is an excellent opportunity for schoolgirls to try things out and possibly lay the foundation for their professional future. So, dear girls: take the chance, go and conquer the world of technology!
