20 years of Biburg-Cauffry: A look back at the German-French friendship
In the Kelheim district, the decades-long connection between the Abensberg Stanglmeier Foundation and the Biburg and Cauffry partnership has recently once again attracted attention. The importance of these partnerships was, among other things, the topic of MZ reporters who illuminated the beginnings of these connections. The Biburg-Cauffry partnership association was founded 20 years ago, and the chairwoman at the time, Rosa Roßbauer, remembered former mayor Jakob Zwerger. He was very interested in a German-French partnership, which is still alive today. Cauffry, a charming community, is located about 60 kilometers north of Paris and has around 2,000 residents. The first meetings between the two regions took place in the summer of 1991, followed by a return visit to Biburg in the autumn of the same year. These connections were ceremoniously sealed in the Wurmdobler Inn.
But that is by far not all that the region has to offer. The Josef Stanglmeier Foundation's “Youth Shapes Leisure” competition took place 30 years ago. 1,100 young people took part and presented 450 contributions - an excellent number, with 435 of the participants coming from the Abensberg area. Classical music took the lead, while eleven rock and pop bands performed. One looked in vain for theater performances, but dance performances offered an exciting insight into the youth culture of the time. This event also contributed to the networking of the young generation in the region.
Historical reviews and modern education
Another very current topic remains education in the digital age. Recent figures show that 94% of teachers use YouTube to support their lesson plans. The platform recently introduced a new music education series called “Think Like a Musician,” in partnership with TED-Ed and Education Through Music. The goal of this series is to provide high-quality music education resources for teachers worldwide. Each video is accompanied by comprehensive teaching materials, which promotes classroom interaction and engages students. The YouTube Player for Education meets these needs and is specifically designed for educational institutions to minimize distractions.
Opportunities through collaborations
It is clear that school partnerships not only promote exchange between countries, but also enrich local learning. Numerous external partners, such as One World stores, local companies and NGOs, support these school partnerships. These collaborations not only provide additional resources, but also expertise when it comes to the quality and sustainability of these programs. Through smart networking, schools can build long-term relationships that are beneficial for everyone involved. Innovative approaches to supporting international exchange are more in demand than ever, and schools would do well to strategically involve external partners to achieve their visions and goals.
Overall, it shows that the Kelheim district is an important place for education, exchange and cooperation. Whether historical reviews or modern developments - a lot is happening here, and it is up to the community to continue and expand these traditions.
