Shooting parade in Kitzingen: tradition and community celebrate big!
In bright sunshine and summer temperatures, the people of Kitzingen gathered on June 24, 2025 to celebrate the traditional rifle parade. The event was accompanied musically by the popular Kolping Music Corps marching band and spread a festive atmosphere right from the starting point on Lindenstrasse. This year the focus was on a newly designed route that gave participants an even closer look at the city's advantages.
The route led via Falterstrasse, Luitpoldstrasse, Schweizer Gässchen and Ritterstrasse to the Bayerischer Hof, where Peter and Katrin Hofknecht welcomed the shooters with a traditional refreshment. So the first part of the parade was not only a pleasure for the eyes, but also for the taste buds. The crowd then continued along Marktstrasse towards the town hall, where their majesties were warmly welcomed with a volley of honor.
The Royal Majesties
The royals who took prominent roles in the parade this year included shooting king Heiko Baumann, youth queen Emma Hahn and student king Phil Paulus. Mayor Stefan Güntner, in his role as rifle commissioner, insisted on being a part of the historic festival. At various stations, their majesties were presented with bouquets of flowers and ceremoniously welcomed.
The new route took the participants over the old Main Bridge, Balthasar-Neumann-Straße and Schwarzacher Straße to the Fehrer company, where they took a break. This innovative course was well received and offered an opportunity for a short break before continuing on Richthofenstrasse to the newly built Schützenhaus.
Future-oriented tradition
The new Schützenhaus then became the culinary stage for the royal banquet, which was hosted by Heiko Baumann. Here the shooters once again showed their best side and ensured a successful feast that brought everyone present together in a convivial atmosphere. The day ended with a feeling of community and pride in keeping the traditions of shooting life in Kitzingen alive.
The shooting community also has big plans for the coming period and is planning further festive activities to further promote the over 600-year-old tradition. With a committed team and the support of the population, we are certain that the shooting traditions in Kitzingen will continue to be very popular in the coming years.
The connection between history and new thinking became more tangible than ever before during the shooting parade. Residents and guests can look forward to the next celebrations and highlights, which will continue to make Kitzingen visible as a lively and traditional place in the heart of Germany.
