A serious traffic accident occurred on November 15, 2025 in Ludwigschorgast, a small town in the Kulmbach district. At 10:25 a.m. there was a head-on collision between a BMW and an Audi. The 45-year-old BMW driver, who was traveling from Untersteinach towards Kupferberg, wanted to turn left onto the B289, but overlooked the oncoming 32-year-old Audi driver. This led to a violent collision.
The force of the impact was enormous: the collision pushed the 32-year-old's Audi onto the vehicle of a 37-year-old who was standing at the junction. The 45-year-old suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to hospital. The 32-year-old, however, only suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were immediately taken into medical care.
Partial closure and fire brigade on duty
The B289 was closed for around three hours after the accident so that the police could investigate the accident. Alerted fire departments supported the emergency services on site to master the situation. The total damage is estimated at around 90,000 euros, with two vehicles having to be towed away.
