With Kulmbus to the old town festival: special trips for the party mood!
From July 4th to 6th, 2025 there will be big celebrations in Kulmbach again, because the old town festival is just around the corner. Preparations are in full swing and the anticipation is palpable in the city. This year there will once again be a colorful program of music, culinary delicacies and a variety of entertainment options in the middle of historic streets. Frankenpost reports that the Old Town Festival is a regularly recurring highlight in the event calendar, and Mayor Ingo Lehmann emphasizes the great diversity and the expected number of visitors.
To travel to the festival, festival visitors can use the Kulmbus, which is used as a special bus during the three festival days. The Kulmbus special trips start from the Gasfabrikgässchen stop on the Old Town Festival Friday (July 4th) from 10:30 p.m. and on the Old Town Festival Saturday (July 5th) from 9:30 p.m. The trips serve around 40 stops throughout the city, including Schwedensteg, Grünwehr and Pestalozzistrasse. Franconian day informed that a trip only costs 1.60 euros and that no advance registration is required for the night trips.
Highlights of the festival
Visitors have the opportunity to take part in numerous attractions. A variety of food and drinks are offered on a promenade and over 50 artists, DJs and bands provide musical entertainment. A very special highlight is the traditional beer tapping on Friday, July 4th, at 5 p.m. on the market square. The Kulmbach town band will provide the musical accompaniment and Mayor Lehmann will tap the first barrel.
The “Old Town Company Run” also takes place on Sunday, which attracts great interest and represents a great opportunity for Kulmbach companies to shine together in a sporting competition. Throughout the festival, there will be a family area around the town hall terrace where children can have fun shooting at goals or doing crafts.
Traffic restrictions
As with any large festival, traffic regulations must be observed. From Thursday, June 29th, Buchbindergasse will be closed to all traffic, requiring significant diversions. There are also parking bans and closures in several areas of the city. Bayreuther Tagblatt has summarized the exact traffic routes that will come into force from Thursday at 6 a.m. It is recommended that you follow the residents' regulations and, in particular, plan your journey to the Upper Town.
For anyone interested in the festival, the details and the full program are available the Old Town Festival website to find. The organizers, the tourism and event service of the city of Kulmbach as well as the dedicated team of road representatives, hope for a successful festival and are looking forward to a high number of visitors.
