Landshut district gets going: CITY CYCLING 2025 from June 22nd!

In the Landshut district it's back on the bikes! From June 22nd until July 12th, 2025, the CITY CYCLING campaign starts in the next round. In recent years, the event has proven to be a complete success - this year too, the aim is to encourage people to cover as many distances as possible by bike. No matter whether you're traveling to work, school or in your free time: every kilometer counts! Those eligible to participate include not only residents of the district, but also employees, students and club members. In 2023, around 640 participants took part and covered an impressive 117,000 kilometers together. This is a proud achievement and shows how much movement there is in the region. CITY CYCLING will open on June 22nd with a kick-off event as part of Car-Free Sunday in Ergolding. District Administrator Peter Dreier and climate protection manager André von Mensenkampff launched the campaign and are firmly behind the project.

Participation and prizes

What's special: Registration can be done in teams of two or more people - be it in companies, school classes or groups of friends. The motivation lies not only in sporting ambition, but also in contributing to climate protection and promoting health through exercise in the fresh air.

There are also attractive prizes to be won for motivated cyclists. Various awards with a total value of 1,000 euros will be awarded. The individual who cycles the most will receive a voucher for 200 euros, while the team with the most total kilometers and the team with the most kilometers per person can each win 300 euros. In addition, a prize of 200 euros will be raffled among all participants. You can redeem all vouchers in local bike shops.

Promote cycling

The CITY CYCLING campaign not only aims to encourage people to cycle, but also uses digital platforms such as RADar!. This platform allows cyclists to report information about cycle paths and infrastructure. This means that problems such as potholes or dangerous areas can be quickly incorporated into the planning and the cycling infrastructure in the region can be improved. This not only makes cycling more safe, but also more fun.

Sustainability is the focus, and CITY CYCLING also promotes awareness of cycling in everyday life. It's time for us all to do our part and pedal together!
