Konstantin Wedel wins the first Old Town Festival Run in Lauf!

On Friday evening, June 27, 2025, the starting signal was given for the premiere of the first Old Town Festival in Lauf an der Pegnitz. Organized by the local Ski Club Lauf e.V., many running enthusiasts gathered at the picturesque water bridge in front of an attractive backdrop. The event turned into a real festival for the whole family, offering both amateur runners and ambitious athletes a great opportunity to compete in sports.

The distance of ten kilometers attracted a particularly large number of athletes, including the fast Konstantin Wedel, who crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 33:11 minutes. Kristina Höhn was the fastest among the women and finished in 37:31 minutes. Those who chose a shorter route took part in the five-kilometer hobby run. The victory here went to Florian Lang, who completed the route in a quick 16:51 minutes. Franziska Richartz won the women's competition with a time of 19:40 minutes.

Organization and support

The Lauf Ski Club organized the event on a voluntary basis and warmly welcomed the runners. Liesa Guttmann-Bindner, one of the active members, conveyed the anticipation of the event, which took place on a mostly asphalt circuit with small gravel sections. The entire route was officially measured and is included in the best lists, which makes it particularly attractive for a wide range of participants.

The event started at 6 p.m. and participants were able to pick up their starting documents at the Nuremberg Gate from 3 p.m. The SAS timing system, which also determined the gross times, ensured smooth timing. The award ceremony took place at the podium on the lower market square from around 8:15 p.m., where trophies were awarded for places 1 to 3 in both races.

Health and safety in focus

In order to promote the health of the participants and identify risks at an early stage, a special questionnaire was recommended, which was developed by the Humboldt University of Berlin. This queries relevant health parameters and provides information about possible medical consultations. This corresponds to the recommendations of the German Athletics Association and is intended to increase awareness of preventive health care.

The organizers also brought some special regulations and offers for the old town festival run. Participants could compete in different age groups, with ages 10 and up being allowed to take part in the five-kilometer run. There were also refreshment stations along the route and in the finish area to support the runners. Official parking spaces were available in the city center for the journey.

With a palpable excitement in the air and widespread participation, the event became an unforgettable experience for everyone who either actively ran or followed the action along the route. Not only was the sporting ambition rewarded, 1 euro of every entry fee also goes to Lebenshilfe in Nuremberger Land, which shows a nice social aspect of this event.
