Spessart Nature Park: Exchange and prizes for sustainable partners!

The Spessart Nature Park and the Hessian Spessart Nature Park recently invited people to an annual exchange at Simon’s Feinbrennerei in Alzenau-Michelbach. This meeting, which took place on October 20, 2025, was attended by 21 representatives from gastronomy, agriculture, culture and tourism. It was a good opportunity to discuss common goals, initiate new collaborations and further develop the cross-border partner initiative. Mainpost reports that the atmosphere of the meeting was characterized by openness and confidence.

Two new official nature park partners were also honored at the event: Simon’s Feinbrennerei from Bavaria and the Theatrium Steinau from Hesse. The latter offers a varied cultural program that includes puppet theater, music, comedy and readings. At the same time, Hofgut Kapellenhof, Hofgut Marjoß and Ferien im Bergdorf Spessart GmbH received the “Partner Sustainable Destination” award for their remarkable ecological and social commitment.

Insights into the distillery

Severin Simon, the owner of the distillery, led the participants through the company and talked about its development. The specialization in fine spirits is particularly interesting as a response to the challenges of climate change. “Tradition, innovation and sustainability” are the leitmotifs that characterize Simon’s fine distillery. Fruit and wine for the fires come from our own land, while a flock of sheep is used to maintain the landscape and the wood for heating and barrel construction comes from our own forest.

The Theatrium Steinau is also planning a tour with the puppet show “The Wirtshaus im Spessart” in its partner companies. Discussions are already underway with other businesses, such as the “Zum Löwen” inn in Rieneck and the SOS Children’s Village Hohenroth, in order to further expand the collaboration. A further step towards networking and visibility is being taken with a mobile trade fair stand and an action day designed in the style of a hiking day. Spessart Nature Park adds that these initiatives are part of an extensive social media campaign that will bring partner companies to the fore.
