Allgäu Sports Prize 2025: Honor for women's sports heroes in the town hall!
Today, October 29th, 2025, it's going to be sporty in the Allgäu! The Allgäu Sports Prize goes into the next round and shines a spotlight on personalities who have made particular contributions to women's sport in the Allgäu. Since its introduction in 2022, the prize has been awarded annually to a maximum of two outstanding female athletes. This time the ice hockey goalkeeper Jennifer Harß and the cyclist Lisa Brennauer can be happy about the award. local-mm.de reports that the prize comes with an impressive total amount of 2,000 euros, which the winners traditionally donate to charitable institutions.
What could be better than using your own performance for a good cause? Jennifer Harß (38) was not only successful in ice hockey for the ECDC Memmingen and the German national team, but is now also showing her skills as an athletic trainer for the women's A, U18 and U16 national teams. Her colleague Lisa Brennauer (37), who comes from Kempten, is one of the most successful cyclists in Germany and is currently the U-23 national cyclist coach. Both women are an excellent example of how female athletes not only shine in competition, but also show social commitment.
A living prize with tradition
The celebratory award presentation will take place on November 12, 2025 in the beautiful Memmingen town hall. The award was launched by VR-Bank Memmingen and JB SportManagement, while the Allgäuer/Memminger Zeitung has also been on board as a partner for the last two years. The six-member jury, consisting of representatives of these institutions as well as Benjamin Adelwarth from the Bavarian State Sports Association and Manfred Schilder, the former mayor of Memmingen, has the difficult task of selecting the best talents from numerous applications.
The focus is not only on sporting achievements, but also on social responsibility. The award winners actively support social and charitable projects and thus make a strong statement in the region. The awards represent a positive role model and are intended to encourage people to also get involved in society.
Commitment that connects
A shared commitment to the community shows a good grasp of important issues. The award winners are not only honored with a personal memento in the form of a wooden sculpture by the artist Cornelia Brader, but also contribute to increasing awareness of women's sports in the Allgäu and ensuring that their achievements are duly recognized.
It remains exciting to see how the sports landscape in the Allgäu continues to develop and what inspiring stories we will hear from female athletes in the coming year. The combination of personal success and social commitment not only shapes the athletes themselves, but also the entire community. In this respect: Congratulations to Jennifer Harß and Lisa Brennauer!
