Neu-Ulm is experiencing changes: opening of the new doctor's office in P3 and progress in urban construction projects on Petrusplatz.

New life at Petrusplatz: First tenant moved into P3!
A new chapter has begun in Neu-Ulm: The first tenant of the new building “P3” has moved in at Petrusplatz, where until recently the ruins of the Renfte bed house dominated the scene. This redesign follows a long and perplexing history. The traditional bed house had to close, leaving behind a ruined building that fell into disrepair over the years. The Steinle construction company had massive plans for the renovation, but ultimately decided against a complete demolition before it slipped into bankruptcy. [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/neu-ulm/neu-ulm-erster-mieter-im-p3-neue-arztpraxis-eroeffnet-am-petrusplatz-staibs-brotbar-bedarf-noch-zeit-113174561) reports that Sparkasse Ulm, as the largest creditor, took responsibility and will eventually begin demolition in March 2022 could.
The challenges during this renovation phase were considerable. The Steinle company's original plans to convert the building into 13 apartments and a shop turned out to be more complex than some initially thought. There were significant financial bottlenecks and the occupancy date for the apartments was pushed back. However, negotiations with potential buyers have not completely stalled, even if the circumstances were anything but easy. Schwäbische adds that the insolvency administrators are continuing to work on solutions for the creditors.
The new building as a beacon of hope
The modern building “P3” now offers space for a doctor’s office for the first time after years of dilapidation. This could be seen as a first step towards a revitalized environment at St. Peter's Square. Even though the adjacent “Staibs Brotbar” still needs some time to open its doors, the new building sets new standards for neighborhood development in Neu-Ulm.
But the activities are not limited to St. Peter's Square. The groundbreaking ceremony for the large-scale “Heiners” project, which stretches between Ludwigstrasse and Maximilianstrasse, took place on October 18th. A building with a total of 11,000 square meters will be built here, which will combine apartments, office space, a city library and dining options. We live Neu-Ulm emphasizes that the city of Neu-Ulm acts as the developer and the total costs of the project are estimated at around 63 million euros.
These ambitious plans show that Neu-Ulm is in the process of redesigning itself and becoming sustainable. The projects are expected to be completed by 2025, so that the city will soon be able to offer a lively center with a variety of uses. Who would have thought that the ruins on Petrusplatz would one day become a sign of a prosperous future?
