SV Reinstetten is celebrating: the derby win against Laupheim in the Waldstadion!

An exciting derby took place today in the Waldstadion in Reinstetten when SV Reinstetten defeated FV Olympia Laupheim with a narrow 2-1. The spectators, 352 in total, witnessed a thrilling game that began with early duels and a quick goal from the guests' ranks. Philip Jelica gave the Laupheim team the lead in the 17th minute, but the hosts were undeterred and equalized just five minutes later through Dominik Martin.

This clash was hugely important for both teams, not only because of the derby atmosphere but also because of the impact on the table. With this defeat, the Laupheim team had to give up the table lead to Türkspor Neu-Ulm, who defeated FV Rot-Weiß Weiler 3-0. Olympic team manager Andreas Spann was disappointed after the game and described the result as “crass” and “unnecessary”. Despite his team's good actions, they lacked the necessary precision in finishing.

The second round and the decisive goal

In the second half, the team from Laupheim pushed for an equalizer, but was unable to score another goal. In the 73rd minute, SV Reinstetten had the chance to decide the game when they were awarded a penalty. Dominik Martin showed strong nerves and successfully converted the penalty in the 74th minute to make it 2-1. SVR coach Florian Treske, who had to leave the field in the 40th minute due to an injury, praised his team's will and explained that the victory was well deserved. In stoppage time, Alexander Beck prevented the guests from equalizing with a strong save in Reinstetten's goal.

The next challenges also lie before both teams. SV Reinstetten will face FV Rot-Weiß Weiler next Saturday, while the Laupheim team has a day off on November 16th and is planning a team evening to prepare for the next game.

In the world of sports, exciting games like the derby aren't the only big events in the news today. The Kentucky Derby also makes headlines. Simone Biles is in Louisville to attend the event and chose her outfit to match that of her husband Jonathan Owens. Owens, who has won three times while betting at Churchill Downs, chose to sit out the fourth race but offered tips to other bettors. Biles herself describes her first derby experience as exciting and plans to consider possibly competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The exciting sporting events in Cologne and around the globe show how dynamic the competitive spirit is - be it on the pitch of the Waldstadion or in the exciting atmosphere of the Kentucky Derby.
