Oliver Villadsen: Return to Denmark! Transfer to Brøndby IF official
An exciting chapter in Oliver Villadsen's football life has come to an end today as the 23-year-old right-back is moving to Bröndby IF next season. After a year and 28 competitive games at 1. FC Nürnberg, Villadsen left the training camp in South Tyrol and camped out in Germany. The step back into the Danish Superliga was long overdue, as after his time at FC Nordsjælland the Dane obviously felt at home again in his homeland.
Villadsen came to FCN in 2024 and was able to contribute two assists in his first season. “Oliver is a great player with a good character,” praises Joti Chatzialexiou, head of sports at 1. FC Nürnberg. This leaves a top performer who, despite his young age, has made an important contribution.
Club history and return to home
Oliver Villadsen was born on November 16, 2001 and began his football career at the tender age of 2.5 years. In 2010 he moved to FC Nordsjælland via Blovstrød IF, where he signed his first contract in October 2016. At just 17 years old, he made his debut for Nordsjælland's professionals in the summer of 2019 and quickly made a name for himself. After moving to Nuremberg, he played in the 2nd Bundesliga, where he was able to distinguish himself as a valuable player, before returning to Denmark to play for Bröndby IF until June 2029. On the pitch, he will, among other things, try to fill the gap left by the club after his transfer.
Now it remains to be seen how 1. FC Nürnberg will react to Villadsen's departure. With Tim Janisch, a homegrown player who established himself with 17 appearances last season, there could already be an internal solution in the right-back position. The club has also signed Justin von der Hitz, an 18-year-old talent from 1. FC Köln, who could also provide reinforcement in this position.
