Things get particularly creative in Regensburg in the run-up to Christmas. Diakonie Regensburg calls on all hobbyists to actively participate in the Social Initiatives Christmas market, which will take place on November 24th and 25th at Bismarckplatz. Here, great emphasis is placed on supporting senior work in the Gustav-Adolf-Wiener-Haus. The proceeds collected flow directly into the Diakonie's valuable senior citizen work.
What can visitors expect at this special market? A colorful selection of handmade products is available, which are made collaboratively by seniors, volunteers and creative supporters. Offers include self-knitted socks, homemade jam, sewn bags, spice and lavender sachets and individually designed Christmas cards. The hand-knitted socks, which are made every Monday morning in the Gustav-Adolf-Wiener-Haus, are particularly popular. Knitting enthusiasts are always welcome.
Get creative with workshops
The Diakonie offers open Christmas workshops for anyone who would like to lend a hand. Every Friday at 4:30 p.m., those interested can take part and realize creative projects. The workshops last approximately two hours, the material is provided free of charge and no previous experience is required. However, registration is required by phone or email.
