News from Regensburg: District meetings and exciting rule changes!

This week, the football community in Upper Palatinate is looking forward to the important summer conferences that took place in the sports center of SV Harting, at TSV Brunn and at SV DIESENBACH. The three events attracted numerous club representatives, including central BFV officials such as district chairman Harald Greß and district game director Mike Koriath, all of whom contributed to the inner sports community with passion and commitment. How bfv.de reported, there were not only reviews of the past season, but also an outlook on the challenges ahead.

District game manager Koriath shared the good news: Four B classes with a total of 38 teams have been set up, which increases the anticipation for the coming season. In addition, a whopping 66 teams have registered for the Toto Cup, which is a real exclamation mark. This already starts while the district leagues, district classes and A classes start the race on July 18th to 20th, 2025. The B classes will follow a week later, on August 8th to 10th, 2025.

New rules for the coming season

Speaking of anticipation – the new season also brings with it fresh rules decided by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The most significant change concerns the goalkeeper regulation: From now on, goalkeepers have eight seconds to put the ball into play after a control. This is indicated by a visible countdown from the referee. If the time limit is exceeded, the penalty is no longer an indirect free kick, but instead there is a corner kick for the opponent bundesliga.com explained.

In addition to this regulation, there are innovations in penalty kicks: If the shooter touches the ball twice, the penalty kick is repeated - it is important to maintain fairness. The changes to the referee ball, which is now carried out according to ball possession, are also a step in the right direction. These rule adjustments should not only ensure more excitement, but also fairer gameplay, reports transfermarkt.de.

An outlook on the 2025/26 season

As Koriath concluded, the clubs' wishes regarding the game plans were taken into account excellently, even if not all requests could be fully met. The group divisions for the coming season are received with great satisfaction, and it remains to be hoped that all teams will get through the season injury-free and that our shared hobby in the Upper Palatinate will continue to flourish.
