Regensburg is experiencing a cultural comeback with the Long Night of Museums!
The lights of Regensburg's old town shone once again on Saturday, October 25, 2025, when the “Long Night of the Museums” was revived after a ten-year break. With the motto "Enough pixels? Time for something real" the city's cultural heritage was brought into the spotlight. The event attracted large numbers of visitors who had the opportunity to open the doors of museums, galleries and historical sites over seven hours with a ticket for 20 euros, which was also available at the box office on the day of the event. The ticket prices were 20 euros, online even 23.50 euros due to advance booking fees, which did not get in the way of the cultural experience.
Over 20 different institutions in the city center took part in the evening, including the Historical Museum at the Donaumarkt and the lively and special Dachshund Museum. There was also a lot to discover on the outskirts of the city. The Gong FM highlights that the Karthaus Museum in the Kumpfmühl-Ziegetsdorf district presented the 150-year history of the district hospital in two parts. Many guests took the opportunity to learn new things about the city's history.
Experience cultural diversity
A special highlight of the event was the diversity of the program. From classic exhibitions to street art to interactive formats, there was something for every taste. A shuttle service between the different locations made it easy for visitors to use the various offers. In addition to the regular program items, there were also a number of special events, including city tours and artist talks. The children's program, which was offered from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., was also very well received and helped families to experience the cultural evening together.
As the Regensburg News report, the city's cultural department initiated the event in order to bring Regensburg's cultural diversity more into focus and is looking forward to the evaluation and the possibility of continuing the “Long Night of the Museums” next year. Curator Bruno Feldmann stated that this night was a great opportunity to discover new things off the beaten path.
Visitors and organizers agree: This event got the city's cultural pulse beating again and proved that Regensburg has many treasures to offer.
