Anniversary celebration in Ostheim: 45 years of diaconal station and 5 years of day care!
A truly festive day was August 12, 2025 in Ostheim, where the Rhön Diakoniestation celebrated its 45th anniversary and the Rhön day care could look back on five successful years. Around 200 guests came together to honor this festive occasion on the facility's grounds. The celebrations were a tribute to the valuable role that the diaconal station plays in the region's nursing care.
In his speech, Mayor Steffen Malzer highlighted the tireless work of the Diakoniestation. “Without the commitment of this facility, the care of some people in Ostheim would not be possible,” he said. In his speech, Deputy District Administrator Josef Demar also emphasized the high professional and human quality of the work done there, which reaches many people every day.
A hard commitment to the community
The Rhön Diakoniestation, as well as the day care, offer a wide range of services that are tailored to the needs of the clients. Care is provided daily, including on Sundays and public holidays, and is available to everyone regardless of religion, age or origin. An important aspect of this support is that care is provided by competent employees who individually tailor their care services. Whether qualified nurses or nursing assistants, the employees here have a keen eye for the needs of those in need. An answering machine is available when the office is unstaffed - ensuring help is always available. Information about this is also available on the [Diakonie NES] website (https://www.diakonie-nes.de/pflege/rhoen).
Karina Werner, chairwoman of the Ostheim Diakonieverein, thanked the employees for their ongoing commitment. “It is your dedication that makes this place special,” says Werner. Pastor Andreas Werner focused on the theological value of diaconal work in a devotional and gave the whole event a deeper meaning. A musical supporting program organized by the Ostheim Music Choir and a performance by a bagpipe player created the festive atmosphere that this anniversary exuded.
Community and joy
The team from the Diakoniestation and the day care made the guests laugh with a humorous sketch, greatly supported by Karina Hülser, the facility manager of the Rhön day care, who moderated the afternoon. Given so much commitment and cohesion, the question arose: What makes this diakonia so important for Ostheim? The answer can be found in its goal of enabling people to live a self-determined life, even when their strength weakens or illnesses occur.
The wishes of those in need of care are always the focus. A personal relationship between clients and caregivers is extremely important. This also means that, if possible, the same employees are used regularly, which creates trust and makes support easier. The services are largely financed by statutory health insurance companies, so that many services can be used without additional payments.
Overall, the anniversary shows that the Rhön diaconal station and day care are an important part of the community. Your committed commitment to the people in the region is not just a professional task, but also a practical service to your neighbors.
