Rosenheim is blooming: International Street Art Festival starts today!

From Friday, July 4th, 2025, the city of Rosenheim will once again be transformed into a dazzling art center. As part of the popular street art festival organized by the Städtische Galerie, visitors can look forward to five impressive murals. After a short break, the festival will take place later this year than usual, but the anticipation is great. International artists will create “murals” in the historic city area and beyond that will show the cityscape in a new light. Rosenheim24 reports on the creative new creations, where visitors can experience the creative process up close, from preliminary sketches to the final works of art.

The sponsors of the festival, including Volksbank Raiffeisenbank eG and GRWS Wohnungsbau- und Renovation Company, actively support the event. Exciting activities are also planned: On Sunday, July 6th, the “Open Wall” will take place in the city gardening center, where the street artist “Dirtyhands” will pass on his knowledge to those interested. And the celebrations continue on Tuesday July 8th with the “taf” festival in the gallery, complete with music and street food. Guided tours of the new works will be offered for cycling art enthusiasts on July 9th and 10th.

Very trendy: street art in Rosenheim

The “transit art” festival makes Rosenheim a hotspot for street art. Since 2020, national and international artists have been drawn to the city, reinterpreting urban space with their large-scale murals. A total of over 35 murals have already been created in the city, all of which are free and accessible at any time. Here you can see how the city is establishing itself as a platform for creative minds. Rosenheim.now highlights that none of the facades have been damaged or painted over so far, thereby quelling any concerns about preserving the urban aesthetics.

This year there are, among other things, some impressive artists at the start. Georgia Hill from Australia will deal with the contrasts between city and country on Spitalstrasse. The Stuttgart artist Jeroo combines graffiti with Art Nouveau elements and will hold workshops with students, while Johannes Brechter from Munich will create his illustrative art on a wall together with seniors. The Berlin collective “innerfields” will also impress by focusing on the topic of alienation between humans and nature. The Argentinian duo “ciclope”, which combines geometric shapes with natural elements, also sets special accents.

Art for everyone

The Street Art Festival not only offers space for international artists, but also for local talent. Young and aspiring artists such as 14-year-old Emil Hegemann, who won a competition, and 19-year-old student Elly Breu, who is implementing her design on the theme of “Homeland”, are also the focus. The commitment of the Städtische Galerie proves that art has nothing to do with an elite clique, but can be accessible to everyone.

In the midst of all this creative explosion, there are also glimpses of future projects and networking with other art centers. Similar street art initiatives can also be found in other European cities such as Berlin. A mural expressing solidarity with Ukraine was recently unveiled there. This growing tendency to transcend the boundaries of art and shed light on current social issues can also be observed in Rosenheim. Yahoo News reports on current events in Berlin and thus gives a brief overview of the cultural trends that also influence Rosenheim.

Overall, the street art festival in Rosenheim promises not only impressive works of art, but also a lively community event that brings people together. The murals are not just seen as art objects, but as part of urban life. One more reason not to miss the works and the accompanying program!
