The DWD also warns of heavy rain with amounts of up to 25 liters per square meter and wind speeds of up to 85 km/h. These extreme meteorological events fall directly on a hot, humid summer day with temperatures between 28 and 33 degrees, which had peaked at 35.5 degrees in Kitzingen the day before.

The DWD's recommendations include urgently needed measures to protect yourself and the surrounding area. The population is called upon toAvoid staying outdoors, avoid bodies of water and secure all detached objects. Paying attention to falling objects and avoiding flooded areas are also essential. You should also adapt your behavior in traffic and clear your basement immediately if there is a risk of flooding.

Additionally there is the DWD known that the cold front of a low with a core near the Shetlands is moving over Germany and displacing the warm, moist air. Although this initially leads to violent thunderstorms and heavy rain, the risk of severe weather should decrease on Monday night as the thunderstorms move eastwards and the weather calms down from the northwest.
