An important Montpelier Board of Education meeting was held on October 14th and exciting news was announced. The Montpelier High School football team will join the Great Lakes Conference beginning in 2026. This is a significant development as it represents the first conference membership since 2015. Board members Patti Rockey and Troy Roth also discussed financial matters important to the school's future.

Montpelier High School, a co-educational public school in Montpelier, Ohio, has made a name for itself. It is the only high school in the Montpelier Exempted Village School District and is known by the nickname “Locomotives.” The school has been active in sports for many years and has shown its skills in various sports.

A look at the sporting successes

Montpelier High School has achieved remarkable success throughout its history. Traditionally, the school was a member of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League (NWOAL) from 1926 to 2016, then moved to the Buckeye Border Conference (BBC). The football team most recently played in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC). Over the years the school has won championships in several disciplines:

Membership in the Great Lakes Conference will undoubtedly bring new challenges and opportunities for the Montpelier Locomotives. The school has a good knack for promoting talent and succeeding in the sporting landscape.
