This happened when the car, which had a Bulgarian registration, was driving from Braunau towards Kirchdorf. The woman obviously wanted to avoid an impending inspection by the federal police when she threw the cat out of the window. The police suspect that the woman in the vehicle did not have any documents or vaccination certificates for the cat, which leads to the case in addition to the existing administrative offenses. The cat will be handed over to a nearby animal shelter later today. The incident highlights the serious lack of animal welfare and the responsibility of the owners.
An alarming trend

Police there are investigating suspected animal cruelty after there were reports of cats being thrown out of a car and deliberately run over. A witness observed a cat being thrown under a rolling vehicle in the town of Werben, whereby the animal then died. The police have now been able to determine the license plate number of the suspected perpetrators and are planning to question the vehicle owner. The MDR reports that, according to the Animal Protection Act, such acts can be punished with fines or imprisonment of up to three years.
