Seniors knit with joy: donations for children's cancer charity Rottal-Inn!
In Wurmannsquick, a small town in the Rottal-Inn district, social commitment is very important. Residents of the BRK St. Andreas senior citizens' home and nursing home have come together to knit for sick children. Among the passionate knitters are the remarkable ladies Maria Wegertseder (91 years old) and Ottilie Hartsperger (96 years old). Their handmade socks and scarves have now been handed over to the Rottal-Inn children's cancer charity.
The joy of knitting and the social value of spending time together are what shape this initiative. Regular meetings of the handicraft group not only promote creativity, but also cohesion among the participants. They find support from the employees of the company, especially Maria Bicsanczyk, Christine Hennersberger and Heide Blaschke.
Personal delivery of donations
Josef Hofbauer, the chairman of the Rottal-Inn children's cancer charity, personally accepted the donations and was extremely positively surprised by the commitment of the seniors. “The hand-knitted socks are very popular and directly benefit the affected children and their families,” explained Hofbauer.
The children's cancer charity not only looks after families in the Rottal-Inn district, but also those affected in the urban districts of Passau. In addition to the direct help through donations, it is also pointed out that items that are not needed are sold. The proceeds from these campaigns also go towards supporting children with cancer and their families.
Appreciation from the facility management
The facility manager, Alfred Bauer, acknowledged the seniors' impressive commitment and thanked them for their valuable donation. Such initiatives not only help to improve the living conditions of sick children, but also promote community and strengthen the joy of life of the women who knit.
The handmade works not only promote the well-being of children in difficult life situations, but also create a connection between generations - a particularly valuable aspect in today's society.
