The focus here is on involving young members in order to counteract the threatLack of young talentin choral music. Mayor Andreas Feller has already expressed his interest and expressly thanks the singers' association and everyone involved for their commitment.
A varied concert program
The event concept has already proven itself: According to a previous event that attracted a large audience at the 2025 Citizens' Festival, the concert was both sophisticated and entertaining. The singers' association and the vhs youth brass band performed at this event, with Mayor Feller and other guests being welcomed by the chairwoman of the singers' association, Monika Schenk. Mittelbayerische.de describes the pre-concert program as colorful and appealing, which also actively involved the Schwandorf photo group.
The event included numerous well-known songs that invited listeners to sing along, including “Weekend and Sunshine” and “You have to go over seven bridges”. The men's choirs brought a direct reference to the region into the program with songs like the “Schifferlied”. The pianists Christian Lehnerer and Ludwig Koch accompanied the performances, while the youth brass band under the direction of Bernhard Müller and Matias Fiero performed a diverse repertoire. This included, among other things, water music by Georg Friedrich Handel and a rousing medley of Udo Jürgens hits.
Insight into the choral music scene
The upcoming concert is part of a larger trend in choral music that is also taking place as part of the VDKC shows. The festival, which took place in Weimar in May 2025, took the opportunity to promote exchange between choirs and celebrate the tradition of choral music. The focus is on the different formats and the integration of young talent. Inspiring workshops and panel discussions as well as the opportunity to network with like-minded choral music enthusiasts were very popular.
The departure that the singers' association is celebrating in Schwandorf will not only be a musical celebration, but also an invitation to become part of the lively choral music scene. The anticipation for July 5th is already palpable, and the organizing team is motivated to create an unforgettable experience that brings both tradition and a breath of fresh air to the region.
