Storm warning: Heavy rain and hail are threatening throughout Bavaria!
In the coming hours, the population in Bavaria will have to prepare for severe storms. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a warning for the south of the Free State that is not without its consequences. Strong thunderstorms are forecast from the evening and into Friday night, accompanied by heavy rain and hail. The districts of Landsberg am Lech, Weilheim-Schongau, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and other neighboring regions, including the city of Munich, are particularly affected. The warning is in effect until 10pm and it is expected that rainfall amounts of up to 30 liters per square meter could fall in a short period of time, while hailstones could reach two centimeters in diameter. Storm gusts with speeds of up to 80 km/h are also mentioned in the forecast, which makes the situation even more tense, as br.de reports.
But the wind doesn't just blow hot in Bavaria. The weather services in Baden-Württemberg are also on alert. There is also a threat of thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail, especially in the regions around Lake Constance, Upper Swabia and the middle Alb. The DWD warns that up to 40 liters of water per square meter can fall here in just a short time. Possible weather events also include hurricane-like gusts that can reach up to 110 km/h. These storms are expected to continue into Friday night, and a cold front will move east on Friday, which should then bring temperatures to more comfortable levels between 20 and 26 degrees. Even the night will remain mild with temperatures between 15 and 9 degrees, as tagesschau.de reports.
Current weather warnings in Germany
The storm events are not exclusively limited to Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. According to information from the Unwetterzentrale, many regions of Germany are affected by severe weather warnings. There are different warning levels that indicate the extent of the danger: from yellow advance warnings to red and purple acute warnings, which indicate a serious storm. This system ensures that citizens are adequately informed and can prepare for possible extreme weather events.
In Lower Saxony, for example, similarly challenging conditions are expected, where storm and rain warnings have also been issued for individual districts. As the weather situation becomes more severe, quarterly forecasts for the next few hours and days are extremely difficult - not every location will be affected by the same symptoms. A strong area of low pressure remains, which continues to influence the atmosphere, and weather services are working diligently to continually update the data.
The situation remains tense and everyone should pay attention to the current weather reports in order to take timely action. Whether it's a cozy evening or a dangerous nighttime situation, the weather ultimately decides. It is recommended to be careful and follow frequent updates to be best prepared.
