A violent incident in ICE 91 on Thursday afternoon shocked the region around Straßkirchen in the Straubing-Bogen district. Due to the incident, the train, which was on its way from Hamburg to Vienna and was carrying around 500 passengers at the time, had to stop on the open road after some passengers applied the emergency brake. Over 150 emergency services and fire departments rushed to the scene to both treat the injured and secure the crime scene. Deutsche Bahn expressed its sympathy for those affected and praised the rapid response of the emergency services.

After the attack, Deutsche Bahn's emergency management system was activated and immediately set up a care center for the shaken passengers.
