TSV Waldkirchen celebrates turbulent promotion to the district league!

TSV Waldkirchen celebrated its comeback in the district league on Wednesday evening in a thrilling playoff. In front of around 200 spectators in Hofkirchen, the A-Juniors defeated JFG Straubing-Bogen 6:4. A spectacle that kept the audience on their toes and offered a lot of emotions.

The game started promisingly for Waldkirchen: Luca Bretl took the early lead in the 7th minute. However, this flash of strength was quickly reciprocated by the JFG, who turned the game around within a few minutes and took the lead 2-1 through Tomas Kelbel in the 14th minute. But the Waldkirchen team did not allow themselves to be discouraged and fought their way back into the game before the break - Bretl scored his second goal in the 35th minute, followed by Marcel Wandl, who secured the 3-2 for Waldkirchen shortly before the break.

The course of the game

After the break, TSV immediately followed up. Adrian Vrbnjak increased the score to 4-2 with a header from a corner in the 53rd minute. A tricky situation arose in the 61st minute when Yusuf Cetin from JFG was shown a red card for unsportsmanlike conduct. At this moment Luca Bretl took advantage of the opportunity and scored his hat trick two minutes later to make it 5-2. But the JFG didn't give up and came close again after Aghid Alajili was sent off (78th minute), when Filip Viskovic reduced the score to 5:3 in the 67th minute. But Waldkirchen didn't allow themselves to be disconcerted and fixed the final score at 6:4 with a goal from Marcel Wandl in the 74th minute.

Particularly noteworthy is the performance of Luca Bretl, who was directly involved in five of the six goals and laid the foundation for promotion with his goals. Referee Timo Mühlbauer led the game confidently and always remained calm despite the intensity of the encounter.

A look into the future

The return to the district league brings a breath of fresh air to the youth department of TSV Waldkirchen, which has a committed season in mind. From July 1, 2024, Martin Volkmer will be the new youth leader after Christian Waschinger takes a well-deserved break after many years. The club has big plans for the coming season and would like to boast over 170 children in care. The youth teams consist of one A-youth, two B-youths, two C-youths, two D-youths, two E-youths and one F- and G-youth.
