Dramatic theft in Ruhpolding: branch manager risks her life!
A dramatic incident occurred today, June 19, 2025, in Ruhpolding, Traunstein district. Three Romanian men tried to steal food and alcohol in an Aldi store. The courageous branch manager stood in their way and initially prevented them from escaping. But the perpetrators didn't hesitate for long and recklessly drove towards the woman in a white Mercedes Sprinter. She was only able to save herself by jumping courageously to the side to avoid a dangerous collision.
The police were informed immediately and initiated immediate searches. Fortunately, the getaway vehicle was discovered just a short time later by the Traunstein traffic police station in Siegsdorf. The three suspects, aged 21, 27 and 42, were in the vehicle and were all taken into custody. The stolen stolen goods were recovered.
Investigations into serious theft
The public prosecutor's office has already filed applications for arrest because of the particularly serious theft. Two of the men, aged 21 and 27, were taken to a correctional facility, while the 42-year-old remains at large. The authorities estimate that sufficient measures could be taken to prevent him from fleeing. In addition, dangerous interference in road traffic is being investigated.
“We are calling on the public to report any events they may observe around the Aldi parking lot,” said a spokesman for the Traunstein criminal police. The incident is part of a worrying trend: According to Statista, theft crimes in Germany rose to around 1.78 million cases in 2022, after a decline since 2015.
The situation in Ruhpolding
The region is not entirely free of crime. In North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, there were over 23,500 residential burglaries in 2022, which corresponds to over 35% of all cases in the federal states. However, the clearance rate for residential burglaries is only 16.1%, while that of robbery crimes is significantly higher at almost 60%.
The dramatic events in Ruhpolding are another indication that even in small towns like this, not everything is as peaceful as one might assume. The investigation is ongoing and the police are asking for the public's help in shedding light on this serious crime.
The branch manager, who so bravely stood up to the perpetrators, shows that there are people who don't want to look away when injustice happens. Such commitment does not go unnoticed - just as the judiciary continues its work to protect against such crimes.
