It's getting hot in Hesse! The new week starts with summery temperatures that have disappeared in many places. On Monday we can expect values ​​between 31 and 35 degrees, in the north and the higher mountains even up to 29 degrees, like that Main Post reported. There is a moderate wind during the day and at night the temperatures drop to a pleasant 22 to 17 degrees, in the mountains sometimes only to 13 degrees.

But that will only be the beginning! On Tuesday we can even expect temperatures of up to 38 degrees, with light winds. There is a small ray of hope for night owls: the temperatures here remain relatively mild, between 22 and 18 degrees, while in the higher valleys around 16 degrees can be expected, like that German Weather Service notes.

A hot Wednesday with a risk of thunderstorms

The next round begins on Wednesday: temperatures rise again to 34 to 39 degrees, although the high altitudes remain a little cooler. Cumulus clouds could cause local showers or heat thunderstorms over the mountains in the evening. Some weather experts estimate that we are dealing with calm but hot summer weather. Climate change cannot be dismissed out of hand, because it makes extreme weather events like this likely ARD Alpha explained.

Heavy rain and heat waves have particularly increased in Germany in recent years. It is said that the number of days with dangerous heat is expected to double by 2050. As temperatures soar, the chance of showers or thunderstorms remains throughout the week, particularly on Thursday evening when we can expect heavy rain.

A look at the weekend weather

Finally, on Thursday it can initially be sunny and warm, with temperatures between 28 and 33 degrees. However, it becomes more uncomfortable in the evening when thunderstorms move into the night owls and the weather situation turns from calm to restless - there could be a certain risk of heavy rain in some regions, as also mentioned. Here the temperatures dropped slightly overnight and are between 19 and 14 degrees, locally even up to 11 degrees in the mountains.

All of these capricious weather events are not just a freak of nature, but are also related to the rising temperatures in Germany, which have risen by 1.7 degrees Celsius since 1881. This not only brings more heat, but also increased water absorption in the air, leading to wetter conditions and therefore more frequent extreme weather events.

The latest meteorological forecasts show that the trend will continue. We can only hope that everyone gets through this heat wave well and can prepare for the cozy weather that will soon come. But keeping a cool head is easier said than done!
