On Sunday, June 29, 2025, Goetheplatz in Bremen was transformed into a lively dance floor when the club Swing Man Tau invited to a rousing dance event. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., dance enthusiasts and newcomers were able to immerse themselves in the world of swing dance. And what could be better than a free crash course for beginners?
As part of the Bremen Theater's “Common Ground” program, the event not only offered the opportunity to dance, but also to meet new people and experience the freedom and improvisation in dance. The participants were led through the crash course with a lot of enthusiasm and good humor, which further lifted the mood. Of course, the real dancing then began, and lots of music filled the air as the dancers whirled around the square in colorful dresses and stylish shoes.
An unforgettable evening
For everyone who couldn't be there on Sunday, there was also the opportunity to get an idea of the exuberant atmosphere through the published photos of the event. Many participants praised the opportunity to try out swing dancing and were enthusiastic about the atmosphere at Goetheplatz. The mix of dance, music and the wonderful summer air made for an unforgettable evening.
But that wasn't all that the Bremen dance scene has to offer. The Swing Canteen, an integral part of the city since 2006, promotes the swing dance culture of the 1920s and 1930s with various workshops and events. Another highlight is the upcoming Lindy Hop beginners workshop, which starts on August 20, 2025. Here, those interested can learn the basics of Lindy Hop and deepen the technical skills of a dance couple, including an exciting distinction between left-handed and right-handed people.
Diverse offers for day and night active people
In addition to the regular courses, special events are also offered, including social dances and Lindy Hop crash courses. So all dance enthusiasts can continue to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of swing. A special summer class for Charleston, taking place the weekends of July 7th and 14th, also promises lots of fun.
The event at Goetheplatz not only showed that swing dancing has a strong foundation in Bremen, but also that the interest and joy in dancing in the city is unbroken. So if you're interested in exercise, music and socializing, you shouldn't miss the upcoming dates!
