Entega impresses with strong sales despite difficult energy markets!
In the shadow of challenging conditions, green energy and telecommunications provider Entega presented solid results in the 2024 financial year. How City-and-works reported, Entega had to accept a decline in sales of around 4 billion euros to 3.1 billion euros. Nevertheless, the operating result (EBIT) was kept at a stable level at almost 115 million euros, which represents a significant decrease compared to the previous year at 190 million euros due to special effects.
However, the operating result of 114.9 million euros is a ray of hope considering that it was still over 90 million euros in 2022. The annual profit also fell and amounted to 48 million euros, after almost 129 million euros in 2023. These figures show that Entega has operated despite the squabbles in the energy markets, underpinning confidence in economic stability.
Sustainable departure
The development in sales of green electricity is particularly encouraging. An increase to 12.9 billion kilowatt hours was recorded in 2024, compared to 11.9 billion kWh in 2023. Natural gas sales also increased slightly and are now 5.9 billion kilowatt hours, an increase from 5.8 billion kWh in the previous year. In response to the increasing trend towards renewable energies, Entega plans to expand its involvement in wind power and solar energy. Wind turbines with a total capacity of 260 megawatts and solar parks with 42 megawatts are currently in operation, which together generate 700 million kWh of green electricity annually.
Entega aims to commission additional wind farms with a total output of 65 megawatts by 2030. These include, among others, the Hülzweiler wind farm and the Haiger III wind farm. These projects are in line with the nationwide goal of further increasing gross final energy consumption in Germany, of which 22.4% was already covered by renewable energies in 2024 Federal Environment Agency documented.
Infrastructure expansion
Another component of the future direction is the fiber optic expansion, for which Entega has already raised around 170 million euros through funding programs. The goal is to build comprehensive fiber optic networks in several districts, including Odenwald and Darmstadt-Dieburg, by 2028. The aim is to complete the construction of the route in Darmstadt by 2029. Investments of around 500 million euros are planned for the comprehensive fiber optic expansion by 2030.
For 2024, Entega can also record a customer increase of 5.6 percent, with the number of electricity customers increasing by 6.2 percent and in the telecommunications sector by 15.4 percent. As of the end of 2024, Entega will have over 800,000 contracts with private and commercial customers in place. The Supervisory Board is proposing a dividend of 0.37 euros per share, which corresponds to a total of almost 32 million euros and remains constant compared to the previous year.
In summary, Entega stands on solid foundations and, despite the challenges in the energy sector, is investing with a clear eye on the future. The course has been set for further growth in both the renewable energy sector and the telecommunications sector and thus make a valuable contribution to the energy transition.
