DFB Cup 2025: pure excitement! Everything about the first duels!
On August 14, 2025, the DFB Cup will be in full swing and the fans in Germany are ready for thrilling duels! A total of 64 teams are competing this year, while VfB Stuttgart starts the new season as defending champions. Exciting games will be played on Friday, August 15, 2025, which many spectators won't want to miss. A total of 16 fixtures are scheduled, including several that particularly stand out.
There will be a clash between FC Gütersloh and 1. FC Union Berlin at 6:00 p.m. The stadium with a capacity of 10,431 spectators will be sold out and around 4,000 fans from the capital are expected. The game between 1. FC Saarbrücken and 1. FC Magdeburg also promises a lot. The travel distance for the Magdeburg fans is almost 600 km, but with 15,000 almost sold-out tickets and around 1,850 away fans, the atmosphere is already exuberant before kick-off. The big hit follows at 8:45 p.m.: DSC Arminia Bielefeld welcomes SV Werder Bremen in a sold-out stadium, where emotions ran high in the quarter-finals last season.
Thrilling encounters on the weekend
An exciting weekend is also ahead! On Saturday, August 16th, there will be a duel between FK Pirmasens and Hamburger SV at 1:00 p.m., which will also take place in front of a full house with 10,000 tickets. The Nordtribüne Hamburg in particular is mobilizing against certain jerseys - this shows how passionate the fans are in this competition. Another highlight awaits at 3:30 p.m.: Eintracht Norderstedt meets FC Sankt Pauli, where the Ultras are already organizing a fan meeting and a Corteo to the stadium.
At the same time, FC Hansa Rostock and TSG Hoffenheim are crossing swords. Here the Suptras Rostock are called upon to appear in white shirts to support. The match between VfB Lübeck and SV Darmstadt 98 will also take place at 6:00 p.m., with 1,300 guest tickets sold. The poplar curve is involved in a fundraising campaign for a good cause.
Sunday and the next encounters
Sunday, August 17th also offers addictive games. At 3:30 p.m. Blau-Weiß Lohne and SpVgg Fürth will compete against each other, with the Horidos fans calling for uniform clothing in the guest block. Later, at 6:00 p.m., Hallescher FC will host FC Augsburg. A fan march is planned here for 1:30 p.m., where uniform clothing will also be called for.
We can't forget the next exciting Monday, August 18th! At 6:00 p.m. SG Dynamo Dresden will play against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The Ultras Dynamo motivate their supporters to participate in yellow, a sign of unity and support. The final event will be the clash between Rot-Weiss Essen and Borussia Dortmund on Monday evening at 8:45 p.m., where fans are encouraged to wear red jerseys or shirts.
Another game is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th: Eintracht Braunschweig welcomes VfB Stuttgart, who will previously play against Bayern Munich. This game is particularly significant as it represents a duel with the reigning cup winners. Due to a postponement, the SV Wehen-Wiesbaden game is scheduled for August 27th.
