IGS Süd is moving to Bockenheim: What the students need to know now
Frankfurt am Main: IGS Süd's move to Bockenheim on August 15, 2025 will provide new perspectives and adjustments in everyday school life.

IGS Süd is moving to Bockenheim: What the students need to know now
The move of IGS Süd to the former Hessenkolleg in Bockenheim is now complete. The students in grades 5 to 7 are pleased that the bus shuttle has been set up for their school trips and that the school can be reached via the internet and by telephone. This is reported by the FAZ. The building, which previously served as a Hessenkolleg, already has a history: around 100 adults who wanted to get their Abitur were taught there.
The rooms in IGS Süd's new home are in a well-kept condition, which certainly played an important role in the selection of the new school location. The move became necessary because the IGS Süd main building in Sachsenhausen was dilapidated and closed. The head of the education department, Sylvia Weber, clearly explained the situation: The merger of the adult education facilities in the Ostend education center should be accelerated.
New location and future plans
However, there is still a big challenge ahead: the middle school will have to stay in Sachsenhausen until probably a year from now. A container facility is currently being built that offers space for all 600 students. Until the legal issues are clarified, the city is renting the school building from the state for an impressive 79,000 euros per month, of which 53,000 euros are ground rent. In the long term, the city plans to enter into the leasehold agreement with the Waisenhaus Foundation in order to acquire the site.
However, what the school can offer students at its new location is still limited. The cafeteria cannot offer warm meals for the time being; instead, packed lunches are available for around two weeks. But the school management, led by Uwe Gehrmann, sees the outdoor area in Bockenheim as a clear advantage and is optimistic about the new circumstances.
For the future, Gehrmann has already suggested a reassessment in three years, with the IGS moving to the state route by 2028. However, the planning is flexible and there is room for the school to stay in Bockenheim longer if the circumstances require it.
Real estate valuation and planning
In another context, real estate valuations are currently very popular because they provide a valuable basis for buying and selling properties. Online tools make it possible to get quick assessments of property values and help owners, sellers and prospective buyers make informed decisions. However, you should not forego the expertise of real estate agents, as they can carry out more comprehensive and precise assessments. This information comes from a blog about property valuation tools by Life's work.
When using these tools, it is important to take regional characteristics into account so that a realistic market value can be determined. Lack of consideration of micro-locations and renovation needs could easily lead to incorrect assessments. It is therefore worth relying on regional expertise when valuing real estate.
Last but not least, it should be mentioned that a platform like this State Employees' Credit Union in Wilmington, NC, draws on over 80 years of experience and, among other things, offers financial advice, which can be useful for anyone who wants to invest in real estate. With over 260 branches and an extensive range of services, the financial cooperative is an important partner for everyone who is looking for solid financial solutions.
