Charity forest opens: Christmas wishes for needy children!

On Thursday morning, November 6th, 2025, the “Charity Forest 2025” was ceremoniously opened in the Galeria department store in Fulda. Mayor Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld (CDU) cut the red ribbon and thus gave the starting signal for this warm campaign that fulfills the Christmas wishes of children and young people from the region. This charity forest is celebrating its second edition after the premiere received a great response last year.

In total, around 300 wish lists hang on the festively decorated fir trees on the second floor of the department store. The campaign enables children, teenagers and young adults from social institutions to make wishes worth up to 25 euros. These wishes were collected on pieces of paper and attached to the charity trees so that customers in the department store can select a piece of paper, purchase the appropriate gift and hand it in directly on site.

Do good together

A central idea of this initiative is generosity and helpfulness towards those in need, which is captured in the definition of charity. As merriam-webster.com describes, this is a form of support that is particularly important around the holidays. The gifts collected as part of the charity forest are handed over to the young recipients on Christmas Eve, bringing a bit of light and joy into the hearts of children and young people.

The partner organizations involved in this positive campaign include well-known institutions such as Round Table 189 Fulda, the Social Service of Catholic Women in Fulda, the Caritas Association for the Fulda and Geisa region, the educational and meeting place for mothers (Muetze) as well as the Malteser Relief Service and the Fulda Region Association. Together they show that you can achieve a lot through joint action and commitment.

A look into the future

The charity forest will be on display on the second floor of Galeria Fulda until Christmas. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone who enjoys giving and supporting others. Each wish list that is selected and fulfilled is not only a gift, but also a sign of community and compassion. How wonderful it is to see these values come to life in this day and age!

So if you are in the area, stop by and support this wonderful initiative! Together we create a piece of the future full of hope and charity.
