Afterwards, Dr. Ilka Roth, senior physician at the Clinic for General, Visceral, Endocrine and Oncological Surgery, will present current surgical procedures, in particular the robot-assisted surgical technique using the DaVinci system. The offer is part of the comprehensive concept of the Oncology Center at the Fulda Clinic, which also includes the Oncology Center East Hesse.

In addition to the event, there will be a variety of information materials on the subject of colon cancer. A variety of free brochures and information sheets are available, produced by various providers, including the German Society for Gastroenterology, Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS) and the Felix Burda Foundation. The Cancer Information Service also offers comprehensive support for specific questions, as well as a list of brochures on colon cancer.

The importance of prevention

Early detection of colon cancer plays a central role in the prevention strategy. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the current figures on the frequency and mortality of colon cancer in Germany are alarming, which underlines the need for such educational events.
