Drivers around Giessen must continue to adapt to changes in road traffic. The connection between the A485 and the A45 at the Gießener Südkreuz has remained closed for months, and commuters' patience is being put to the test. As the Giessen General reported that these measures became necessary due to structural damage.
In order to defuse the situation, the Westphalia motorway has decided to start building three temporary ramps next week. Marco Gräb, head of the Dillenburg branch, describes this initiative as a “creative interim solution”. This should give commuters at least partial access to the motorways again.
New ramp for commuters
What can drivers expect once the ramps are completed? For the route to Butzbach there is a new ramp that leads over the right lane onto the A485. Anyone wanting to get to Frankfurt will be directed via a 180 degree turn onto a temporary ramp that leads directly onto the A45. These measures are not only intended to restart traffic, but also to ensure that construction traffic management is well organized.
As part of the preparatory work, the ramp from the A45 towards Frankfurt to the A485 to Butzbach will be closed on the night of November 11th to 12th from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. Diversions for cars and trucks are signposted accordingly: While cars are routed via the company bypass behind the Gießener Südkreuz, trucks must use the Münzenberg junction.

Symptoms associated with this code usually include the check engine light coming on and the transmission's automatic transmission "limp mode" possibly activating. This can mean that the vehicle no longer shifts gears properly, which is less than ideal for commuters.
