Benefit concert: Gabriela Tasnadi celebrates 25 years as a choir director!
On June 28, 2025, a special benefit concert will take place in the auditorium of the JLU in Giessen, which will not only touch the hearts of visitors, but also pursue an important social purpose. From 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., music lovers have the opportunity to listen to a multi-faceted performance and at the same time make donations for the Station Peiper parents' association, which looks after children with leukemia and cancer in Giessen. Admission is free, but donations are expressly desired to support the association's valuable work.
The event is dedicated to the Year of the Voice 2025 and marks an important anniversary: Gabriela Tasnadi, the talented choir director, will celebrate her 25th anniversary in this role in 2025 and will look back on an impressive 40-year stage anniversary. Born in Romania in 1965, she now lives in Giessen, where she has a collection of choirs. For example, the children's choir, the women's ensemble Fermata as well as the seniors' choir of the city of Gießen and many other choirs will be on stage.
An impressive career
Gabriela Tasnadi is no stranger to the music scene. Her musical roots go back to early childhood - she began her musical training at just 4 years old, which began with a successful entrance exam at a musical high school at the age of 6. After 12 years of piano training and an early debut at the Romanian State Opera, she made a name for herself as a mezzo-soprano at renowned opera houses such as the Dresden State Opera and the Komische Oper Berlin.
She has been a choir director since 2000, and her commitment as a voice trainer and singing teacher further highlights her. With its colorful program, which ranges from classical to modern, Tasnadi appeals to music lovers of all ages and preferences.
The art of the choir name
There are many approaches and techniques that need to be learned, especially in choir conducting. The art of choral voice training is an essential part of singing, as unichor emphasizes. From 2020, interested and aspiring choir directors can attend various courses that focus on the topic of choir conducting. The Federal Music Association Choir & Orchestra (BMCO) cooperates with, among others, the Federal Academy for Cultural Education in Wolfenbüttel. The courses provide the opportunity to learn valuable skills in stylistics, interpretation, rehearsal methodology and more.
Each course ends with an exam and offers the opportunity to further your education and enrich your own practice with renowned lecturers such as Hayat Chaoui or Anja Paulus. The next courses start at regular intervals and therefore offer numerous opportunities for further training.
Gabriela Tasnadi's benefit concert on June 28th is not only a celebration of music, but also an opportunity to support and celebrate the local choral landscape. Audiences and choir members can look forward to an evening full of joyful sound and community. Anyone who would like to contribute is warmly invited to attend and donate to support the important work of the parents' association.
Preparations are in full swing and it will be exciting to see what musical surprises the choirs will have in store. We can look forward to an unforgettable evening in which singing is all about social responsibility.
