Liebig to Go: Discover the industrial heritage in Giessen!

In July, concentrated knowledge will be on offer at the Liebig Museum in Giessen when Dr. Stephan Becker presented two events entitled “Liebig to Go”. These lectures are the only way to visit the museum currently as it is in the midst of extensive restoration work. On July 5th there will be a special edition on the topic of “Liebig's influence on industry” as part of the Central Hesse Industrial Culture Days. Just a week later, on July 11th, the life and work of Justus Liebig will be the focus.

Both events start at 5 p.m. and have a special meeting point: the Liebig Museum at Liebigstrasse 12. Afterwards, a tour takes you through the construction site of the original laboratory, which is being renovated after fire damage. After the tour, we continue to the experimental lecture in the “Justus im Hessischer Hof” restaurant. There, participants can order drinks and food at their own expense and learn more about Justus Liebig's exciting experiments.

Insights and historical treasures

Participation in these unique events costs 24 euros per person. Tickets are not only available at the Giessen Tourist Information Office, but can also be booked online via Reservix (plus 2 euro service fees). These events are part of the comprehensive program of the Industrial Heritage Days, which will take place from June 27 to July 6, 2025 and include more than 50 events related to the region's industrial development.

For everyone who is already planning for the next event, the next public “Liebig to Go” tours have already been scheduled: on August 23rd, October 19th and November 30th, 2025. Online booking via the Liebig Museum homepage enables groups to organize individual tours. Since its opening in March 1920, the Liebig Museum has aimed to provide comprehensive information about the life of Justus Liebig and his scientific developments.

A contribution to local culture

The Liebig Museum is not just a museum, but also an important part of the educational landscape and industrial culture in Central Hesse. A visit during these events not only promises to be entertaining, but also provides valuable insight into the history of science and its impact on industry. So if you are curious about the world of Justus Liebig, you shouldn't miss the chance and secure your tickets in time. Those interested can find further information on the pages of the Gießener Zeitung, the Mittelhessen Industrial Culture and Gießen Discover.
